Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed the government’s desire to supply foodstuffs in the various points of sale, commercial chains and exhibitions, before the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, in the required quantities and at reasonable prices, while taking the necessary measures to control the markets.
This came during a meeting Madbouly held with Ali el-Moselhi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade to follow up on the position of strategic commodity stocks and ongoing arrangements to supply products in all governorates in preparation for the holy month, according to a press release.
The Prime Minister referred to the “Ahlan Ramadan” exhibition, which greatly contributes to meeting the needs of citizens for various goods and supplies at reasonable prices.
For his part, el-Moselhi presented the situation of the availability of basic products, in particular wheat, in the light of the economic repercussions of the current Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
The Minister explained that the area sown to wheat this year stands at about 3.6 million feddans, producing about 10 million tons, adding that the state aims to harvest more than 6 million tons of wheat, thanks to various mechanisms and incentives to farmers.
El-Moselhi said that meetings were held with traders and supply managers of various food products, and it was agreed to provide distinguished offers while offering the largest possible quantities at competitive prices. .
He added that as part of the concerted efforts of ministries, he had received a request from the Minister of Endowments to prepare 300,000 Ramadan bags to be distributed to the most needy segments.
